Substance addiction disorders cause behavioral or physical changes associated with the regular use of substances that affect the central nervous system. Diagnosis of substance addiction disorder requires a determination of the severity of one or more of the following symptoms:

- Personality disorders.
- Peripheral neuropathies.
- Liver damage.
- Gastritis.
